Obituary of Darlene A Purcell

Please share a memory of Darlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Darlene Ann (Prunier) Purcell, age 60, of Woodstock, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of boundless love, laughter, and generosity. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Prunier and the late Chung Wui (Cho) Prunier. Above all else, Darlene's greatest joy in life was being "Meme," the name lovingly given to her by her grandchildren. She adored her daughter, Dominique Kintzer, and her son-in-law, Zygmont Kintzer, and was endlessly proud of her beloved grandchildren, Bjorn and Lydia Kintzer, who were her everything. Her love for them was immeasurable, and she worked tirelessly to ensure they would always remember how deeply their Meme loved them. Darlene also leaves behind her husband, Alfred J. Purcell III, and their two cherished chihuahuas, Pablo and Maria, with whom she shared adventures, laughter, and companionship. She is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends, especially Jason Nedoroscik, her nephew with whom she shared an especially close bond, and Donna Hryzan-Kirk, her lifelong friend since kindergarten. Darlene was a woman whose presence filled every room she entered. A dedicated and gifted nurse, she spent her life caring for others and earned the lighthearted reputation that she could "put an IV into a rock." Her compassion, skill, and humor touched the lives of countless patients, colleagues, and friends throughout her career. She lived life to the fullest, vibrant, bold, and always on the go. Darlene had a passion for adventure and loved to travel the world, especially enjoying visits to Italy, France, and the Caribbean. She and her husband treasured their trips to Wolfeboro, NH where peaceful moments by the lake became some of their most cherished memories. At home, Darlene's heart was in her kitchen. She was famous for her extravagant Thanksgiving feasts, ensuring no favorite family dish was ever missing from the table. Cooking for her loved ones was one of her greatest joys, a true expression of her love and devotion. Though her passing was untimely, Darlene's life was nothing short of extraordinary, beautiful, bold, fast, and full of heart. Her warmth, humor, and love will forever remain with those blessed to have known her. Services are private and under the direction of Bartel Funeral Home, 33 Schofield Avenue, Dudley, MA.
