She was preceded in death by her son Brian Williams formerly of Dudley, a brother, George Cypher and a sister, Barbara (Cypher) Morey, both of whom had lived in Homestead, FL.
Jean was born on December 19, 1924 in Worcester, MA, daughter of George and Mary (Weeks) Cypher. Her family moved to Oxford, MA before her first birthday where she lived until her marriage to Arthur Williams in 1945. She graduated from Oxford High School. When her children were young, she was a leader in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and helped in Boy Scouts. Once her children were older, she went back to school and attended the David Hall Fanning School of Nursing in Worcester and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked as a nurse at both Harrington Memorial Hospital and Heald Machine Co, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Dudley for almost 80 years where she and Art served a number of terms as Deacons. She served on many committees to include the pastoral search committee and as a mentor for new confirmands. She was the past president of the Ladies Benevolent Society. In 1991 when the church needed a fundraiser for an addition to the church, she started having church suppers open to the public which were very successful and continued to work on them for the next 15 years. The church continues to have those suppers. She was a 60-year member of the Dudley Grange #163 and worked at the Strawberry Festival from when they began until she moved to Overlook. She was a Charter Member of the Black Tavern Historical Society and held a number of positions there. She loved to travel and did so all over the world. She and Art enjoyed spending every summer for over 35 years at their camp on Pierpont Pond in Charlton, MA. She moved to the Overlook in 2007 and when she arrived, she continued to be active. In her over 19 years there, she was part of the scholarship committee; she was a floor representative and also delivered the newspapers to residents. For a number of years she took charge of baking for the Craft Fair, where the money made went toward scholarships for the employees' families. One year alone her committee baked 50 pies, 42 assorted sweet beads, 61 bags of cookies and 37 bags of candy. She enjoyed cooking and baking, but most of all, she enjoyed her beloved family. Services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Dudley, 135 Center Rd., Dudley, MA on August 22, 2026 at 11:00. Calling hours are at 10:00. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be directed toward the Tiffany 300 campaign at the First Congregational Church of Dudley, to be used to retore the churches Tiffany-stained glass windows.
