To the Late LTC Roger F. Carney, Thank you for being such a supportive Officer-In-Charge during my assignment as a Young Supply/Budget NCO of Central Signal Support Group (CSSG) in SECKENHIEM, GERMANY. I learned a lot from your quiet but supportive leadership demeanor. My apologies for the late post but I just found out that LTC Carney had passed. My condolences and prayers to the family through what I am sure has been a very tough time of transitioning. May your Soul have everlasting peace

We were shocked to learn of Roger's passing into Omega Chapter of our fraternity. My deepest sympathy to Linda and his three sons.
It has been a long time since Linda read all those books to me on Waldron Street. Many good memories.

I met Roger in 1962 or '63 when I stayed in the Alpha Sigma Phi house at Purdue for two weeks, while my older brother, Cordell (1939-2012), was taking summer classes. We had long conversations in the old house on Waldron Street. Later, I attended his wedding at a Catholic Church in West Lafayette. When I joined Alpha Sigma Phi in 1966, he visited our new chapter house on David Ross Road and dined with the brothers. I also have home movies of Roger and some of the other brothers in front of the old chapter house on Waldron Street.
He was a true gentleman and served his country in his highest traditions. My sincere condolences to his family.

Roger exuded the qualities and virtues we all hope to earn in our lifetime, integrity, respect, dignity, honor and class. He approached life and work selflessly, always putting the greater good over the individual. Personally, I could not have asked for a better mentor, supporter and friend. I will be forever grateful for our lengthy conversations and his behind the scenes advocacy. It has been a privilege to know him. To top it all off, he introduced me to the Vanilla Bean and Stogie Hollow cafe's. My trips there will always remind me of Roger.

Rog and I have been pals since we were pre-schoolers. We (including Maureen) are alumni of St. Mary's Parochial School in Flushing which was also the site of Boy Scout Troop 146. We followed each other around the world when we were both in service, Germany, Viet Nam, Maryland and SW United States. He was my regular correspondent for political, historic and aviation subjects. Our deepest sympathy to Linda and "the boys."

Roger was a class act, and it was a pleasure to talk with him at many Fischer Institute events at Nichols College. He was so knowledgeable on many topics. We enjoyed spending time with him and Eileen on retreats. I have never met a more organized and patriotic man. Our Veteran's Day celebrations will not be the same without Roger in attendance. He has left a wonderful legacy. Sincere condolences to his family and friends; he will be missed.
