Webster- Dorothy "Dot" (Paciorkowski ) Zmetra, age 79, died peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2015 in Fairfax VA after a long struggle with Brain Cancer. She was surrounded by her family who celebrated memories with her and cared for her throughout her illness. Dorothy was born on November 15, 1935 in Dudley, MA. She was the daughter of the late Benny and the late Mary (Gajewski) Paciorkowski. Her husband of 53 years, William Joseph Zmetra died in 2008.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters: Karen Glenn and her husband John of Chantilly, VA, Maria Paska and her husband Edward of Chantilly, VA and one son: Mark Zmetra and his wife Guylaine of Woodstock, CT. Dorothy was known as "Barbie" to 11 beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She graduated from Bartlett High School and later graduated from Leo's Beauty Institute. She was the owner/manager of Chet's Smoke Shop on Main Street, Webster. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, taking pictures and living on Webster Lake before moving to Chantilly VA due to health issues. Her dynamic personality will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 on Saturday, October 17 at St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours will be Saturday, October 17 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Bartel Funeral Home and Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley, MA. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Dorothy's memory to the National Brain Tumor Society at braintumor.org, 55 Chapel Street, Suite 200, Newton, MA, 02458.
