Dudley - Gladys I (Finlay) Ziemba, 78, of 53 Cortis Rd, died Tuesday September 27 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge after being stricken ill at home. Her husband of 40 years, Stanley C. Ziemba died in 1985 She leaves one daughter Dianne Mitchell and her favorite son-in-law, Dwight Mitchell of Dudley. A granddaughter, Lonna Mitchell of Boston ,one sister Edith DesOrmeaux of TN
Predeceased by predeceased her son, Stanley "Stashu" Ziemba, Sisters Marjorie Kimball and Dorothy Lunapiena.
She was born in Sturbridge MA, the daughter of the late William A. and Helen (Shippee) Finlay.She lived the past 56 years in Dudley , Gladys worked as a Stapler at the Hyde Manufacturing in Southbridge Retiring in1989. Gladys was an avid hunter of both Moose and Deer . She shot two Moose
In Newfoundland and a Black Bear in New Hampshire and many deer throughout New England. Gladys enjoyed the outdoors , mowing her lawn and tending to her garden .
She was devoted to helping the elderly and family and friends well liked by all who meet her, she enjoyed eating out and trips to the casino and her two cats Fluff and Louie. She was a member of North Brookfield Sportsman and Dudley Sportsman Clubs, A life long member of the National Rifle Association and has over 50 trophies for her marksmanship.
Gladys will be remembered with a celebration of her life at 10:30 AM on Saturday October 1 in the Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel 33 Schofield Ave. Dudley all are invited to share their memories and stories of Gladys.
