Dudley - Edith (Bates) McKee, 88, formerly of Wayne Ave., died peacefully March 8 in Radius Of Southbridge. Her husband of 38 years, William "Scotty" McKee died in 1982 She leaves one daughter Suzanne B. Benoit and her husband Paul of Dudley.Three grandchildren Scott Benoit and his wife Lynn , Jennifer Sullivan and her husband Robert all of Dudley and Steven Benoit of Southbridge. Many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother Clayton Bates. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Henry and Hazel (Scott) Bates.She lived in Dudley most all her life .She worked many years as a Lens Inspector at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge and then worked 15 years at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam Ct. before retiring. Edith was a member of the First Congregational Church of Dudley and a former member of the Dudley Grange. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and canning vegetables but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 11 at 11AM in the First Congregational Church Of Dudley 135 Center Rd. burial will follow in Corbin Cemetery Dudley. Calling Hours are Friday March 10 from 4 to 7 PM in Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Avenue Dudley. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bell Tower Restoration Fund of the First Congregational Church of Dudley 135 Center Rd. Dudley Ma 01571.
