Dudley - Francine K. Theodores, 90 a resident of Dudley since 1934, died peacefully Sunday night at Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Webster. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter L. Theodores who passed away in 1975 after a lengthy illness. She leaves a daughter, Elenora Davies of and two sons, Louis Theodores, and Ted Theodores all of Massachusetts a brother, Nicholas Kiako and a sister, Elizabeth Rech both of Connecticut. She also leaves six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren who reside in Massachusetts, and four nieces and a nephew who live in Connecticut. Mrs. Theodores was born in northern Greece, immigrating through Ellis Island to America on July 5, 1921 with her parents and an older sister, and establishing their residence in Bridgeport, CT. She enjoyed relating the tale of her childhood journey by horse and carriage from her birthplace, visiting relatives in villages along the way to the port city of Peraeus where, at age six, she and her family boarded the MV Alexandria for the 10-day voyage to New York. She became a United States citizen on May 1, 1928. During World War II, she was active as a Civil Defense volunteer and worked in one of Webster's several defense production factories. In the 1950's Mrs. Theodores became an officer of the Order of Eastern Star, sharing this interest with her husband Peter, an active 32nd degree Mason, together participating in frequent benevolent activities and functions throughout Worcester County. She was a member of the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Webster, and a member of the Parish Philoptochos Society. The family expresses its most sincere gratitude to the wonderful caregivers of the Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their kindness and loving care. Funeral services were private in the Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel 33 Schofield Ave. Dudley .Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
