Obituary of Edmund A. Martin

Dudley - Edmund A. Martin, 90, of 22 Joshua Place, died Tuesday, October 6 in Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Webster, MA. after an illness. He leaves several grandchildren and great -great grandchildren nieces and nephews and his niece and care giver Helen Bejune of Webster , MA. Predeceased by daughters Joy Wien of Los Angeles and Bonnie Aldrich of Thompson Ct. and his dear friend, Patricia Minarik of Dudley. He was born in Webster the son of the late Julius and the late Julietta (Redlitz) Martin and has lived in Dudley and Webster all his life. He attended local schools and then entered the former Cole Trade school in Southbridge graduating as a machinist. He entered the Navy in 1942 serving in the Pacific Theater, after his service to his country he returned to American Optical Company, receiving many awards for production and safety. He gradually earned the title of machine builder, spending 43 years of service to the company. Edmund was also a well known local musician in the New England area playing with the Late Ray Stone and his Orchestra. In his retirement he loved to entertain the residents at various rest homes. Mr. Martin was a member of American Legion Post 184 in Webster and the former Emanuel Lutheran Church in Webster. Funeral services and burial will be held Thursday, October 8 at 11:00 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Webster with Military honors provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 184, Houghton St., Webster, MA 01570 There are no calling hours .
