Please share a memory of Denis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Denis Keohane died peacefully on Monday, September 11th at Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Webster, MA. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends. Denis leaves his daughter-in-law, Joanne Keohane of Dudley; granddaughter Laura Keohane, granddaughter, Beth Hastings and her husband Brian; and great-grandson, Nathan. Born in Skibbereen, Ireland, Denis worked as a carpenter before coming to America in 1930. He and his wife Molly celebrated 62 years of marriage before her passing in 1997. One of their greatest joys were their late sons, Rev. Bartholomew Keohane and Denis J. Keohane. Most of Denis' life was spent in Astoria, NY where he worked as a carpenter for the New York Central Railroad Company for 28 years. Denis and Molly moved to Dudley, MA in 1990 to be close to family. Denis will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep faith, and Irish charm. He belonged to St. Anthony of Padua Church, where a funeral Mass will be held on September 14th at 11:00 am. There are no calling hours. Donations can be made to the Oakwood Resident Activity Fund to honor his memory and the staff's loving care. Bartel Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
