Myra Edwards, age 82, of Dudley died Sunday Oct. 16th at home in Dudley. Myra was born in Wales and lived in the United Kingdom and New Zealand before moving to Massachusetts in 1984. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Edwards in 2000.
She is survived by one son, Gareth Edwards and his wife Kathleen of Douglas, MA, one daughter, Gail Gibbs and her husband John Michael of Dudley, MA, and two grandchildren, Trevor Gibbs and Jillian Gibbs. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Scott and his wife Kim, sister-in-law, Marsha Cookson, nieces and nephews, and extended families including the Gibbs, Nash and Donovan families and Suzan Costen. She was predeceased by her mother, Alice Hughes, two brothers, David Hughes and Brian Cookson, and one sister, Betty Murray.
Myra was a world traveler and enjoyed spending time with her family, neighbors and friends she met along the way. She especially enjoyed being a home maker, before and after her retirement in 1984. She was a loving, caring, strong mother, "Naina" and friend to so many, including the Ramsey, Gauthier and Harper families. She was an avid bowler for 30 years and bowled in leagues at Mohegan Lanes in Webster where she was the high single string leader several times.
A memorial calling hours will be Friday Oct..21 from 6-8 PM at Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH, 03086 or St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
