DUDLEY-Charles G Brezny, age 70, of Dudley died Friday, December 30, 2016 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center -University Campus of Worcester, MA. with his wife at his side. He leaves his wife of 42 years Denice Dru (Cannava) Brezny.Two sons Brian Brezny of Dudley and Charles J. Brezny who Died in 1994. His three Daughters Donna Larsen of Smyrna, Delaware and her husband David, Diana Perez of Trenton, NJ and her husband Eddie, Denise M Britz of Congers, New York six grandchildren, Eric Larsen, Lindsey Larsen, Eddie Perez, Stephanie (Lucky) Perez, Adam Perez, Josef Britz and one Great Granddaughter Alexis Larsen.Niece Kathy Caravonna and her husband Ronald ,nephew Billy Martin. Predeaceased by a sister Barbara Brezny.
He was born in Manhattan, New York son of the late Charles and Olga(Kladek) Brezny. He was a Fifteen year veteran of the New York City police department (NYPD) receiving 20 citations for exceptional police duty and bravery, including one for heroism. He is enrolled as a lifetime member of the elite Honor Legion of Police for New York City.
He graduated from John Jay College for criminal justice in New York with a degree in Management with further education at Columbia University, while serving as a Police Officer, he was the primary tranining police instructor teaching Police Science, Fire Prevention and Fire Safety courses and developed a diaster plan for the Queensborough Bridge regarding Manhattan Traffic and Pedestrian Control. At the time of his retirement he was a supervisor to eighty-six officers. In 1984 he moved to Dudley MA.
He was a Selectman for five years, serving one year as Chairman. He retired from the Board of Selectman in 2001. Also, he was Charirman of The Dudley Conservation Committee, Dudley Ponds Commission, Town's Fence Viewer, member of the Dam Safety Committee, a Little League Coach and a substitute teacher at Bay Path Regional High School.
As a Selectman from 1996 to 2001 he started the Thurday evening Open Door Program for the residents. This way residents could talk to a Selectman on a one-on -one basis when they had a problem needing attention or an answer to a question.This led to the opening of all Town Hall Departments on Thursday evenings. He created the Student Selectman Program, Youth Commission, Phote ID for children, worked on and implemented Mangagement Policies regarding, Liquor Stores, Auto Dealers and Junk Yard Licenses. He was instrumental in the Development of the job description for the Town Administrator.
He strongly believed weekly Selectman's meeting should be held and residents have the right to question the Selectmen on the Town's Affairs.
After fifteen years of pain and suffering, he is free of pain and suffering and is in Heaven with God. Services will be held privately in Corbin Cemetery in Dudley. In lieu of flowers donations may be made for cancer research.
