Obituary of Carolyn M. Hughes

The Villages, FL - Carolyn M. Hughes, 73, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 18, 2018 at The Villages Hospice Home after an illness, and was greeted back into the loving arms of her late husband of 52 years, Thomas E. Hughes. Also welcoming her was her cherished son, Thomas M. Hughes She was born in Webster, MA on June 18, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Theodore Fijal and Anna (Tryba) Fijal. She leaves behind her son Jeffrey Hughes and his wife Jeannine of Sturbridge, MA, her daughter Susan Langley of Key Largo, FL, her daughter-in-law Jane Hughes of Alexandria, VA, and her six grandchildren, Richard, Leah, Margaret, George, Anna, and Madeline. She also leaves behind her mother Anna Fijal, her sister Barbara Kryger, and her sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Warren Williams, as well as many nieces and nephews. Carol grew up, married, raised her family, and worked in the Webster area for the first 61 years of her life, then retired and happily relocated to the warmer weather of Florida in 2005. There she spent her days by the pool, dancing, learning to play Maj Jong and making new friends. Always a fighter, she beat lupus, lymphoma and survived a massive heart attack, but throughout her trying days the happiness of her loved ones was always her priority. A celebration of life will be held on April 27, 2018 at 9:00 am with concluding prayers at 11:00 am at Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel located at 33 Schofield Ave, Dudley, MA. Services at St. Joseph's Columbarium to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: North Lake Presbyterian Church, Memo: Operation Homebound, 975 Rolling Acres Rd, Lady Lake, FL 32159
