Obituary of Karen Bergstrom

Karen Bergstrom, 44, of Dudley died Friday, June 1, 2018 at Harrington Healthcare- Hubbard Campus . She is survived by her father William Bergstrom, sister Ellen Bergstrom of Chelmsford,aunt, Ellen Gevry of Dudley, aunt, Kathy Chlapowski of Waltham, MA; Aunt, Joan Henrikson and her husband Ken of Long Meadow. Companion, Matthew Birch of Dudley. predeceased by her mother Mary (Cournoyer) Bergstrom . Karen played 3 sports in high school, and was most known for her skills on the basketball court where she set many high school records. She was also inducted into the Bartlett High School Athletic Hall of Fame. After high school, Karen worked in construction on Cape Cod for several years doing everything from taking down trees to installing hardwood floors and windows to painting. She also loved the outdoors and animals. Karen has had many rescue dogs and cats through the years. Karen often took her dog and best friend, Maggie, hiking and swimming. Over the past 2 years, Karen and Matt restored her dune buggy and spent many summer days and nights cruising. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 12 at St. Anthony Of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Rd., Dudley,(please meet at the church) burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery next to her Mother Mary who she missed dearly. Calling hours will be Monday, June 11 from 4 to 8 PM at Bartel Funeral Home and Chapel 33 Schofield Avenue, Dudley, MA.
