Obituary of Doris U Lempicki

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DUDLEY- Doris Una Lempicki, age 92, died Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Buckley Healthcare Center in Greenfield, MA. Doris was born May 23, 1928 in Southbridge, MA. She is the daughter of Gerald and Mary (Dumas) Carpenter. Doris was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, John R. Lempicki, in 2003. She is survived by two daughters: Linda Hebert and her husband Roger of Vashon Island, WA and Sharon Gilbert and her husband Charles of East Moriches, NY, and two sons: Richard Lempicki and his wife Joan of Dudley, MA, and Gerry Lempicki and his wife Robin of Ashfield, MA. Doris leaves a sister, Irene Welsh of Daytona Beach, FL. She was predeceased by her younger sister, Aline McLean of Fiskdale, MA. Doris leaves six grandchildren, Christopher and Zachary, Joel and Justine, and Sarah and Martha. Doris also leaves many close friends that she enjoyed walking with, or chatting with over a coffee. Doris lived at the home she and John created in Dudley for many years, and was a longtime member of Dudley Grange #163. She enjoyed bowling and playing card games or board games with friends. Doris had a passion for baking and enjoyed sharing food with family and friends. There is a generation of now grown-up neighborhood kids that will remember her for the many bags of popcorn balls and treats that Doris enjoyed making and giving out on Halloween. She especially enjoyed holiday family gatherings. Doris had a green thumb and enjoyed creating beautiful flower gardens at her home. She had a talent for working with textiles whether it was making braided rugs and draperies for her home, or making clothes to give to her family and friends. She was a determined woman, tackling many projects around her home; in doing so, she demonstrated to her children that they can do anything they set their minds to. She worked as a hairdresser at Mary's Beauty Shop in Southbridge for many years before retiring. She later worked at the local school cafeteria. The Lempicki family is thankful for the many Personal Care Attendants that Doris entertained and befriended as they assisted her during her stay at Gerry and Robin's home in Ashfield between 2016 and 2020. Special thanks and appreciation go to two most dedicated and compassionate people, Tracy Ragan and Robin Lempicki. The Lempicki family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire team at Buckley Healthcare Center in Greenfield, MA. The level of care and compassion Doris (and family) received during her stay was exceptional. A graveside service will be held privately at Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers, enjoy a snack and your favorite beverage during a conversation with a loved one, or make a donation to a charity of your choice. Doris' guest book is online at www.bartelfuneral home. Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley is assisting with arrangements . .
