Obituary of Linda J Carter

Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Linda J. (Krasowsky) Carter, 69 DUDLEY --- Linda J. (Krasowsky) Carter, age 69, of Dudley, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital with her loving husband by her side. Linda leaves her husband of 45 years, John Carter, brothers Walter Krasowsky, David Krasowsky and Steven Krasowsky, all of Auburn, brother-in-law Paul Carter of Thompson, CT, sister-in-law Ann Krasowsky of Auburn, many nieces and nephews, very close cousins, and dear friends. Her son, Nicholas Carter, and her brother, Gary Krasowsky, predeceased her. Linda was born in Worcester to the late Jane (Skowronski) and Walter Krasowsky Sr. She graduated from Auburn High School, Becker Jr. College, and with high honors from Nichols College, where she was one of the first women to graduate from the previously all-male school. Linda was raised on her family farm in Auburn. As a young lady of 14, she was a 4-H member with her horses, entering dozens of horse shows and excelling at barrel racing and pole bending. She met her soulmate, John, at this time and because she was too young to drive, John drove the horse trailer to the shows. For twenty years, Linda and John lived in Griswold, CT, where they raised their son Nick. They owned five "Act One Video" stores, which Linda managed skillfully due to her business background. In 2000, they purchased a Victorian home in Dudley and restored it to its original beauty. Linda enjoyed her home, decorating it beautifully for the holidays, and tending lovingly to her vegetable and flower gardens. While living in Dudley, she was a manager and bookkeeper for the family business, Martin Realty. Linda was an excellent cook and baker. Having accumulated hundreds of recipes over the years, she was always trying out new ones, with John as her taste-tester. She also cooked traditional family recipes; pierogis, golumpkis, giant pots of beet soup and cabbage soup were among her favorites. She was very generous with her cooked specialties, sharing them with her family and friends. Linda was a joy to be around: admired by many for the way she faced the hurdles in her life and rose above them, for her no-nonsense approach to situations, and for her smile and ongoing positive attitude. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure and honor to have known her. A time of remembrance will be held at Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley, on Sunday, February 13, 2022, from 10AM to 12PM. Burial will be held privately in North Cemetery, Oxford, at a later date.
