Elizabeth J. Recko (Nachajko) 87 of North Grosvenordale, CT., passed away on Sunday April 10, 2022 at Davis Place Rehabilitation Center in Danielson CT. following complications from Alzheimer's. Elizabeth was born September 03, 1934 to the late Chester and Elizabeth (Lemanski) Nachajko.
Elizabeth is survived by her son Charles C. (Chris) Recko and his wife Denise (Santerre) from Thompson Ct., and their daughter Loni (Recko) Decelles and her husband David from Brooklyn Ct. Her daughter Karen J. (Recko) Grzyb and her companion Joseph Kabala from Webster Ma., and her daughter Keli (Grzyb) Ferrand, her son Christopher Grzyb and his wife Jasmine from Webster Ma. Her son James A. Recko and his wife Donna (Gorski) from Webster Ma., and their daughters Jessica Recko and her companion Kerrin Ryan from Webster, Jenna Recko and her fiancé Matthew Maguire from Southbridge Ma., and Jillian Recko from Boston Ma., and daughter in-law Elizabeth from Denver Co. She also leaves great grandsons Dyllan, Mason, Tyler, Ethan and Noah, and a great granddaughter Lily all from Webster Ma. She is also survived by her youngest brother Ronald and his wife Marie of Putnam Ct.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Charles, youngest son Brian, and sisters Nancy Pershula, Patricia Faneuf, Sandra Anthony, and brother Kenneth.
Elizabeth graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster Ma.. Elizabeth was a member of the Civil Air Patrol at Westover Air Base in Springfield Ma. during the Korean War. Elizabeth married her husband Charles in 1953 while Charles was in the Navy.
Elizabeth worked with her husband and sons at their auto parts store in Dudley for many years. She also worked for the original Webster Times newspaper in the 1970's & 1980's as a proof reader, photographer and a columnist. She wrote her own column, "Sincerely Yours". After retiring in 1999 from the auto parts business, she went on to work at Old Sturbridge Village in the gift shop and book store. She then left work due to illness.
Amongst Elizabeth's hobbies, was her love for flower gardening, reading, oil painting and candlepin bowling.
Calling hours for Elizabeth will be held Monday April 25th from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Bartel Funeral Home, 33 Schofield Ave. Dudley Ma., followed by a mass at Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster Ma. at 11:00 am.Committal prayers will follow at Saint Joseph Garden of Peace cemetery -Columbarium in Webster Ma.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Elizabeth's name to the Alzheimer's Association, or the American Cancer Society.
