Marlene J. Plaza, age 71, of Dudley died Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at UMASS with her family by her side. She is the daughter of the late John and Irene (Rogala) Augustyn. She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen F. Plaza, Jr. in 2003. She is survived by her two daughters Kristin A. Plaza and fiance Anthony Tomanini of Spencer and Marissa J. Bachand of Dudley, her mother Irene Augustyn of Dudley, a sister Maria and husband Martin Seavey of Charlestown, and two grandsons Griffin and Reid Bachand of Dudley. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, dear cousins and friends. Marlene was born in Worcester, MA and lived in Dudley all her life. She attended David Hale Fanning, Quinsigamond, and Worcester State. Marlene was an LPN at Harrington Memorial Hospital for 26 years and later retired from UMASS in 2010. Marlene was a staunch example of her Polish heritage and a devoted Catholic. She volunteered for countless parish activities, was a Eucharistic Minister, CCD instructor, and a fierce pierogi maker. Her most beloved role however, was being "Grammy". A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Friday, August 26 at St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Garden Of Peace Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 25 from 6 to 8 PM at Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave.Dudley. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph Basilica.
