Obituary of Eva Bozena Crowell

Please share a memory of Eva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eva Bożena (Czerepica) Crowell Eva Bożena (Czerepica) Crowell, 63, of Dudley, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at St. Vincent Hospital on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Eva was born in Recz, Poland and lived in Chosczno, Poland until she was five years old when she immigrated with her family to the United States. She attended St. Stanislaus School and St. Rose High School in Chelsea, Massachusetts before earning her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston and her Master’s degree from Lynn University. She was an adventurous spirit and lived in many places including Chelsea and Revere, Massachusetts, Boca Raton and Del Ray Beach, Florida and Lilburn, Georgia before finally settling down in Dudley, Massachusetts. Out of all her many accomplishments in life, Eva was most proud of being a mother to “her boys” John Michael Crowell and Timothy Asa Crowell. From an early age, she instilled in them the importance of being strong and independent and she was immensely proud of the men that they were becoming. She also provided them with the skills to become fantastic cooks. When they were children, Eva was involved in their various activities and interests, including baseball, karate and indulging their love of animals – even tolerating their pet snake. More recently, she enjoyed visiting her eldest son, John, in Boston where they would explore the city and eat at the best restaurants. She was always bragging to her family and friends about John’s newest adventures in the city and the life he was creating for himself, and she was excited for what was to come. She also encouraged her youngest son, Timothy, to excel at school and continue to explore his interest in cooking. Christmas Eve dinner was not complete without Timothy’s shrimp scampi. While she was sad at the prospect of being an “empty nester”, she was thrilled when Timothy was accepted at the Wentworth Institute of Technology and was excited for him to experience college life and pursue an engineering degree. Her boys were truly the light of her life and will be her everlasting legacy. In addition to being a devoted mother, Eva excelled at various jobs throughout her life, including as a high school history teacher, Certified Bookkeeper and for a short time, even a professional dancer. Eva learned to dance as a child and continued dancing into adulthood when she joined a local dance troupe. Most recently, Eva was employed as a Program Coordinator at UMASS Medical School in Shrewsbury, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Her best friend, a Terrier/Yorkie/Chihuahua mix affectionately named Zoe, was a constant source of comfort and joy in her life along with her cat Deedee, who would often join her video calls with colleagues. They became Eva's furry work buddies and sources of amusement to her coworkers. She was an active member of Faith Church in Auburn, Massachusetts where she regularly volunteered at many events, including packing boxes of food for the less fortunate. Besides her church activities, Eva enjoyed learning and practicing Tai-Chi, sipping fine wine, shopping for the best deals, watching the Patriots in the company of her family and going on long walks with Zoe. In addition to her two cherished sons, Eva is survived by her sister, Theresa Czerepica of Chelsea, MA, sister Grace (Czerepica) Chojnacki and her husband, Teodor of Dudley, MA, and brother Roman Czerepica and his wife Julie of Malden, MA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including her niece and goddaughter Mellissa Chojnacki-Ohba and her husband Jun Pei (JP) of Springfield, VA, niece Dr. Ania Chojnacki-Durgin and her husband David of Dudley, MA, nephew Thomas Chojnacki of Dudley, MA, niece Eva Chojnacki of Dudley, MA, niece Sophie Czerepica and nephew Jacob Czerepica both of Malden, MA. She was also a loving great-aunt to Olivia, Benjamin and Charlie Durgin, Theodore Ohba and Abigail and Amelia Chojnacki. She leaves behind many friends, cousins, and extended family members in the United States and in Poland - all of whom loved her very much and who miss her dearly. Eva is predeceased by her beloved parents, father Stanley Czerepica and mother Genevieve (Mazurek) Czerepica.
