Webster - James M. Hetherman, 71, of 40 Elm St., retired Parks & Cemeteries director for the town of Webster died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 29 at his home. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Gloria (Mayotte) Hetherman. A daughter: Colleen and her husband Wayne Rogers of Charlton three sons: George Hetherman,and his wife Mary of Dudley ,Jamie Hetherman and his wife Hollie of Charlton and Shawn Hetherman and his wife Angela of Webster. Seven grandchildren Nathaniel, Maryann, Tucker, Caelin, Jack, Alex and Emily. A sister: Judeann and her husband Thomas Haskins of Dudley : mother-in- law Helen Mayotte of Auburn, and brother-in- law : Joseph Mayotte and his wife Betty of Quinebaug. 1 niece and 3 nephews. He was born in Dudley,the son of James and Eva (Gendron) Hetherman. He grew up in Quinebaug and Graduated from Bartlett High School class 0f 55 and then lived in Webster. Jim was a member of St. Louis Church and a collector for the parish. He dedicated over 30 years to the Town Of Webster with the beautification of Webster Beach and Athletic fields . Jim was instrumental in the forming of Winter Wonderland and the footbridge at the Beach . He served on the town safety committee and Board of Directors at the Senior Center for many years. A member and past Exalted ruler of Webster Lodge of Elks 1466 and recipient of the lodges Citizen of the Year Award. He enjoyed walking and his many projects he created for family and friends. His funeral will be held Tuesday Oct.2 from Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley, with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Webster Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4 to 8 PM . The Elks ritual will be at 7 PM.
