Sharing a memory…..
In order for me to share my 1st memory of Bill, I need to turn the clock back 70 years. My mother informed me that after Sunday School I told her that I had a “best friend”…..his name is “Billy the Boy”
For 70 years Bill remained my best and oldest friend. Victor Lempicki reminded me that we could make Bill laugh at the most inappropriate time and to watch him try with all his might to get control..…he couldn’t!!
At the end of the school day we would recite the Lords Prayer. Our principal “the Pro” (Paul Procopey) caught us snickering and decided that we needed capital punishment. We had to go to the kitchen for the execution. I took the 1st hit on my rear from the miniature baseball bat. Bill took the second hit. After returning to the classroom, I tried to make Bill laugh….While Bill was trying to hold back with all his might, the Pro caught my action and invited me back into the kitchen for another hit. Bill, Victor and I were so bad with our laughter, especially in church, that our parents would make people sit between us. Victor holds the world record for sitting at the farthest end of the pew, with 5 people separating him from Bill. The vibration worked it’s wonders around and through the obstacles and still reached Bill….Bill could not stop laughing.
I remember having a milk shake at Nectorland’s with Bill. Somehow I made Bill laugh just after he took a swig of the milk shake. I think the psi of the liquid traveling through both nostril’s was 130 lbs.
I have always admired Bill. I have always enjoyed his fun and laughter Most of my wonderful memories growing up have included Bill “Thanks for the memories”. My last visit with Bill was 2 years ago (Shuffle Board Tournament) I observed the same Bill that I met in Sunday School 70 years ago.
