Please share a memory of Elaine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elaine (Carlson) Gould, 84, passed away unexpectedly in Benicassim Spain. Elaine was born in Fitchburg on March 21, 1940 to Norman and Elna (Muhonen) Carlson. She grew up in Gardner Mass. She leaves her husband of 63 years, David Gould of Webster, her sister Karen Carlson and her children, son Michael and his wife Carmina of Benicassim Spain, and daughter Christine Gould Lavoie and her husband Daniel Lavoie of Dudley. Elaine had four grandchildren: Andrea Gould and her husband Pratik Doshi, Alejandra Gould and her husband Antonio Solsona, Brendan Lavoie and Sarah Lavoie. She had one great granddaughter, Siena Gould Doshi, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. Elaine graduated from Gardner High School in 1958. She played basketball, volleyball and was an active member of her drama club. After high school she graduated from Ward Business school in 1959. She was a keypunch operator until marrying and raising a family. Elaine and David married in 1961 and settled in Oxford to raise their family. They later moved to Dudley and then Webster. Throughout her life, Elaine worked mostly in the education and service fields. She was a dedicated community member in each town that she resided in. She attended the First Congregational Church of both Oxford then Dudley. She was active in town government, church committees, and she was a lifetime Girl Scout. In the late 1970's she became a member of the Oxford Woman's Club and was a past President. After moving to Dudley, she was the founder of the Dudley Woman's Club. Elaine was active in her community, enjoying her many events at the Webster and Dudley Senior Centers. Elaine loved to travel with her family and saw many beautiful sights around the world. She had a love of music, watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. But above all, she was a 60-year super fan of the Days Of Our Lives Soap Opera, rarely missing any episode. She loved flowers, gardening and watching HGTV. Elaine dedicated her life to her family and serving her community. We love her and will miss her dearly.
